John earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin – Platteville. After college, John worked in the private sector as both an Operations Manager, and later as a General Manager. His responsibilities encompassed daily operations and new project execution, including research, planning, design, budgeting, and contracting.
In 1994, he joined the Kilbourn Fire Department and has been involved in all aspects of the department’s response operations, including municipal & rural fire, EMS, and specialized rescue. Throughout his tenure, John has held the positions of Lieutenant, Instructor / Training Officer, and Company Captain. John has also served the department through committee appointments, ranging from equipment, recruitment, retention, and fund raising. Concurrently, he was a member of the municipal Ambulance Service as an EMT-Intermediate and served as a Crew Chief on an ALS Unit.
In 2003, John joined Fire Facilities Inc. as a Regional Manager and consultant, bringing together the experiences of building construction management, fire & EMS service and an appreciation of the importance of quality training. Servicing the central United States, John has been involved in the successful development of over 200 training facilities.
