Fire Facilities takes safety seriously. All standard building models have been updated to meet new NFPA 1402 requirements. To go above and beyond compliance with applicable building and training standards, we’ve made the following improvements to our standard designs:
- Increased Guardrail Height: 42” high guardrail on both sides of stairs to prevent falls
- Added Handrails: 36” – 38” high handrails on both sides of stairs – separate handrails versus guardrails; handrails are not just the top of the guardrails
- Updated Stairs: Meet IBC/NFPA 1402 stair requirements, meets 7” maximum rise and 11” minimum treads
- Added Training Scenarios: Different style stairs are now offered as a standard on some tower models, for training exercises other than just straight stairs, such as “U” or “L,” which are more common in commercial and residential structures
- Stronger Guardrails: Increased load capabilities for guardrails found at rooflines, balconies, stairs and more
- Increased Rappelling Anchor Strength: 10,000 lb rated rappelling anchors
- Added Functionality: All doors and shutters are operable from both sides
- Increased Square Footage: Footprints of many standard building models were made larger
